the Ricetto at Candelo

The Recetto at Candelo
circa 1335

a fortified village

built by the local peasants following plans designed by the military architect Manfredo Vialardi to subdue a native-built tower at least as early as the start of the 13th century (probably built by the powerful House of Vialardi: unfortunately, nothing has survived), the Recetto was used as a castled warehouse for corn and wine, Only in case of war, the population sheltered inside it.
